About Brent Coffee

Brent Michael Coffee is native of Pampa, Texas where he attended public schools. Brent then attended Lubbock Christian University on a partial athletic scholarship. Upon graduation, Brent moved to Washington DC to intern in the office of the U.S. House of Representatives for the Republican Majority Leader, Republican Tom DeLay of Texas.

After his internship in Congress, Brent studied in the master’s program at Franciscan University of Steubenville. He then attended law school at Ave Maria School of Law, which was established in 1999 and is known as a law school with “a more conservative religious orientation.”

Robert Bork, a U.S. Court of Appeals Judge on the DC Fifth Circuit (and nominated to the U.S. Supreme Court by President Reagan), was an early faculty member of the law school. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia served as an advisor on the structure of the school’s legal curriculum. These Conservative legal scholars of constitutional law have helped shape Brent Coffee’s legal life, his approach to respect for the rule of law, our legal system and the role they play in our constitutional republic.

Upon graduation and admittance to the State Bar of Texas, Brent was in private practice before joining the Bexar County District Attorney’s office; As an Assistant District Attorney where he prosecuted countless cases ranging from Class C offenses to first degree felonies, handling thousands of cases over a three-and-a-half-year period.

Brent left the Bexar County District Attorney to became an Assistant Attorney General of Texas, to working in the Election Integrity Division to prosecute election and voter fraud. He most notably managed a voter fraud case in Victoria County – involving a guilty plea by the defendant to twenty-six felony counts of voter and election fraud.

Brent Coffee is a member of the Federalist Society, the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys, the Republican National Lawyers Association and the criminal law sections of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas.

An active outdoorsman and firm advocate for the second amendment rights of all Americans, Brent is also a Member of the National Rifle Association, the Texas State Rifle Association, the Gun Owners of America, Ducks Unlimited and the Coast Conservation Association of Texas.

Brent’s experience as a Texas Prosecutor has uniquely prepared him to serve on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

Following College, Brent worked for U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay of Texas as an intern.
